What Foldscapes collects, why, and what you can ask for.

01Who is responsible

Foldscapes, a sole trader business run by Mustafa Haroon from Halifax, West Yorkshire, is the data controller for the personal information described here. You can reach Mustafa Haroon at [email protected] or on +447723185962 about anything on this page.

02What is collected

Only what is needed to answer you and to do the work.

  • Enquiry form: your name, email address, phone number if you give one, and whatever you write in the message.
  • Direct contact: if you message on WhatsApp, call, or email, that conversation and your number or address.
  • Client records: for work that goes ahead, the project details, invoices and correspondence.
  • Site analytics: aggregate page-view data with no name attached to it and no attempt to identify you.

03Why, and on what basis

Enquiries are handled because you asked for a quote — that is either a step taken at your request before entering a contract, or a legitimate interest in replying to someone who got in touch. Client records are kept to perform the contract and to meet accounting and tax obligations. Analytics rest on a legitimate interest in knowing which pages are read.

No marketing list is run, and nothing you send is used to advertise to you later.

04Who else handles it

A small number of services are used to run the site and deliver messages. Each only receives what it needs.

  • Web3Forms — delivers the enquiry form to the inbox. It handles the contents of that form.
  • Vercel — analytics for this site, in aggregate.
  • Cloudflare — serves the site. It processes the technical request data any web host does, including IP addresses, to deliver pages and block abuse.
  • WhatsApp (Meta) — only if you choose to message that way, under their own terms.
  • Google — only if you choose to leave a review on the Google Business Profile.

05Cookies and what is stored on your device

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. It does store two small values in your browser so it behaves sensibly: which of the site's designs you last chose, and whether you have already seen the opening title sequence this session. Both stay on your device, are readable only by this site, and are cleared when you clear site data. Neither identifies you.

06How long it is kept

Enquiries that do not become work are kept while there is a reasonable prospect of replying or picking the conversation back up, and are deleted after that. Records relating to work carried out are kept for six years after the end of the relevant tax year, which is the period HMRC requires.

07Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to it being used, or ask for it to be restricted or moved. Ask by email and it will be dealt with within one month.

If you are unhappy with how a request was handled you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though raising it directly first is usually quicker.

08Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version appears on this page. The date it was last changed is shown at the foot of the page.
